COMPREHENSIVE SERVICES ARE OFFERED IN THE FOLLOWING AREAS:

Receptive Language

Receptive language refers to the ability to understand and comprehend language. We work toward this goal by expanding vocabulary, enhancing the ability to follow instructions, and strengthening overall language comprehension.

Expressive Language

Expressive language refer to the ability to produce language to communicate thoughts, ideas, feelings, and needs. We support children in expanding their vocabulary, improving sentence structure, and develop functional communication skills.

Articulation

Articulation refers to the physical ability to produce speech sounds correctly and clearly. We help facilitate clearer communication to support the child's overall language development.

Social Communication

Social Communication refers to the use of language and communication skills in social contexts. For children, it involves the ability to effectively use language to interact with others in ways that are socially appropriate and meaningful.

We help children  by:

  • Teaching and modeling appropriate conversational skills and social interactions.

  • Helping children understand and use non-verbal cues effectively (like facial expressions, gestures, and body language).

  • Encouraging children to engage in role-playing activities to practice social scenarios.

  • Addressing any difficulties with understanding social rules or recognizing social cues.

  • Supporting children in developing empathy and perspective-taking to strengthen their social relationships.

Augmentative & Alternative Communication (AAC)

AAC refers to the various methods and tools used to support or replace speech or writing for individuals who have difficulty with communication.

AAC can include a wide range of strategies and devices, such as:

  • Low-tech options like picture boards or communication books

  • High-tech options like speech-generating devices or computer-based systems

  • Symbol-based communication, using pictures or symbols to represent words or concepts

  • Sign language or other manual communication methods

Play

Play skills refer to the abilities and behaviors children use during play activities, which are essential for learning and development. Play involves a variety of cognitive, social, and motor skills, and it provides opportunities for children to practice and develop their communication abilities.

We develop play skills by:

  • Modeling appropriate play behaviors and communication strategies.

  • Encouraging imaginative and symbolic play to enhance language development.

  • Creating opportunities for cooperative play with peers to foster social communication.

  • Using play-based activities to support the development of vocabulary, sentence structure, and conversational skills.

Cognition

Precursors to Speech and Language Development

Precursors to Speech and Language Development

Cognition refers to the mental processes involved in acquiring knowledge and understanding, which include attention, memory, problem-solving, reasoning, and executive functions (such as planning, organizing, and self-regulation). Cognitive skills are essential for children to process information, learn, and function in everyday life.

We help children with cognitive skills by implementing various therapeutic techniques to support the development and improvement of attention, memory, problem-solving, executive functioning, and language-cognition integration, which ultimately enhances the child's overall ability to learn, communicate, and navigate daily life.
