Our Expertise

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD):

A developmental disorder that affects how a person behaves, interacts with others, communicates, and learns. It is considered a spectrum because individuals with ASD can have a wide range of symptoms and abilities. Some may have significant intellectual disabilities, while others may have average or above-average intelligence. Common characteristics of ASD can include difficulties with social communication, repetitive behaviors, and restricted interests.

Oral-Motor Delays:

A delay or difficulty in the development of the motor skills necessary to control the muscles of the mouth, lips, tongue, and jaw. These skills are essential for activities like speaking, eating, and swallowing. When children have oral-motor delays, they may struggle with tasks such as pronouncing sounds correctly, chewing food, or coordinating the muscles needed for clear speech.

Apraxia of Speech:

Motor speech disorder caused by a difficulty in planning and coordinating the movements needed for speech. Unlike dysarthria, the muscles themselves are not weak or paralyzed; instead, the brain struggles to send the correct messages to the muscles that control speech.

Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD):

A neurodevelopmental condition that affects focus, self-control, and energy regulation. Children with ADHD may experience difficulties with attention, organization, following directions, and interacting socially.

We offer targeted support to help children strengthen their communication and thinking skills—essential tools for success at school and in everyday life.

Our approach helps children:

  • Improve focus and listening
Through engaging activities that boost attention span and follow-through

  • Organize thoughts and language
With guided support for clearer speaking and communication

  • Build social skills
By practicing social cues, turn-taking, and flexible conversation

  • Strengthen executive functioning
Using strategies for planning, task initiation, and self-monitoring

PROMPT-Trained SLP

PROMPT stands for Prompts for Restructuring Oral Muscular Phonetic Targets. It’s a specialized, hands-on approach used to support children who have difficulty speaking clearly.

Our speech-language pathologist has completed the Introduction to PROMPT training through the PROMPT Institute. This method involves using gentle touch cues to guide a child’s articulators into the correct positions for speech. But PROMPT is more than just helping with speech sounds—it also fosters your child’s ability to express themselves, build confidence, and connect meaningfully with others.

"From little sounds to big conversations, Happy Whale Therapy brings them to life!"
